HALLOWEEN Dungeon Quest Reborn Dungeon Quest Reborn Controls

Desktop and mobile inputs, ability set swapping, and Shift Lock habits for cleaner dungeon clears.

Last updated:

Clean inputs win more chests than almost any mid-tier weapon upgrade in HALLOWEEN Dungeon Quest Reborn. This guide documents the standard desktop and mobile controls, explains Q / E ability slots with F set swapping, and covers Shift Lock habits that keep melee and aimed spells honest. Return to the Controls & Builds Hub for role templates after you memorize the tables.

Desktop controls table

MoveW A S DStrafe while watching ground telegraphs
JumpSpaceClear low obstacles; do not panic-hop into AoE
Basic attackLeft Mouse Button (LMB)Fills downtime between abilities
Ability slot 1QCasts the Q ability on your active set

Swap ability setsFToggles Set 1 ↔ Set 2

If your keybinds differ because of Roblox accessibility settings or custom binds, the actions above still apply—remap mentally to the same roles.

Mobile controls table

ActionTypical mobile controlNotes

Mobile players should especially rehearse set swap: missing the F-equivalent mid-boss is a common wipe cause when the heal or burst kit lives on Set 2.

Ability sets explained

Dungeon Quest Reborn does not give you four simultaneous hotkeys in the classic MMO sense. Instead:

  1. You equip abilities into Set 1 and Set 2.
  2. Each set has a Q and an E slot (two abilities visible at a time).
  3. F (or the mobile swap control) flips which set is active.
  4. Cooldown rules can prevent cheeky unequips mid-recycle—plan bursts in the lobby.

Example Warrior bar

  • Set 1 Q: Enhanced Inner Rage (when owned) or best Physical buff
  • Set 1 E: Whirlwind / primary clear
  • Set 2 Q: Burst or gap tool
  • Set 2 E: Situational defensive or second clear

Example Mage bar

  • Set 1 Q: Enhanced Inner Focus (when owned)
  • Set 1 E: Lightning Strikes or best focused damage
  • Set 2 Q: AoE / shuriken-style tool
  • Set 2 E: Utility

Example Healer bar

  • Set 1 Q: Universal Heal
  • Set 1 E: Focus-line buff or secondary heal/utility
  • Set 2: Emergency tools + modest damage so you are not idle

Full rankings live on the abilities tier list. Weapons that match these bars are on the weapons tier list.

Shift Lock: when to use it

Shift Lock pins your character’s facing to the camera direction. Many Warrior and Bow players prefer it because:

  • Melee swings track more predictably
  • Strafing with WASD keeps the camera-relative orientation stable
  • Aimed or directional abilities are easier to line up

Turn Shift Lock off temporarily if you need freer camera inspection of a room, then lock again before committing to a boss pattern. On mobile, practice the equivalent camera discipline—there is no keyboard Shift key, but facing control still matters.

Lobby checklist before every session

  1. Claim Daily Reward.
  2. Open Inventory and confirm weapon + four ability assignments (two sets).
  3. Visit Sell for junk; visit Upgrade only for keepers.
  4. Confirm difficulty matches your gear—not your ego.
  5. Mentally rehearse: LMB filler → Q/E → F swap → repeat.

New accounts should pair this page with Getting Started. Seasonal Halloween cosmetics do not change the keybinds.

Combat rhythm drill (five minutes in Easy)

Run a low Desert Temple Easy clear with the sole goal of never forgetting Set 2:

  1. Enter with a heal or secondary damage tool on Set 2.
  2. Clear two rooms on Set 1 only while counting LMB swings between abilities.
  3. On room three, F swap and cast both Set 2 abilities on purpose.
  4. Swap back before the next door.
  5. On the boss, pre-swap to the kit you actually need for the phase.

Repeat until the swap is boring. Boring inputs are reliable inputs on Nightmare.

Desktop vs mobile performance notes

  • Desktop wins on precision camera and key feedback; use it for learning Hardcore routes when possible.
  • Mobile wins on play-anywhere convenience; increase UI scale if ability buttons are easy to miss-tap.
  • Either platform can clear content—the limiter is usually gear rolls and telegraph reading, not the existence of a keyboard.
  • Scripts and touch macros violate ToS and risk bans; learn the real controls instead (Scripts Hub).

Party callouts tied to controls

Good parties talk about cooldowns in input language:

  • “Rage on Set 1 after pillars.”
  • “Swap to heals on F when the circle spawns.”
  • “I am Shift Locked south—stack left.”

Shared vocabulary beats vague “use cooldowns” spam.

Accessibility and comfort

If holding M1 for long rooms strains your hand, take breaks between runs—DQR sessions stretch when you chase Enchanted Forest luck. Remap through Roblox settings if needed, but keep a written note of what replaced Q / E / F so guides on this wiki still make sense.

What controls do not solve

Perfect keybinds will not:

  • Create promo codes (there are none in October 2026)
  • Replace bad weapon rolls
  • Bypass Hardcore death costs
  • Fix a party that refuses a Healer on content that needs one

They will let your real gear and real role show up in the damage and heal meters.

Learn WASD, Space, LMB, Q, E, F, and Shift Lock until they disappear into muscle memory. Then spend attention on telegraphs, loot rolls, and the Updates Hub when Halloween or Gilded Skies patches land. That is how Controls convert into clears in HALLOWEEN Dungeon Quest Reborn.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for HALLOWEEN Dungeon Quest Reborn players.

What are the default PC controls for Dungeon Quest Reborn?

Move with WASD, jump with Space, attack with left mouse button, cast abilities with Q and E, swap ability sets with F, and use Shift Lock (Shift) to lock facing to the camera.

What does the F key do?

F swaps between ability Set 1 and Set 2. Each set has its own Q and E abilities, so swapping doubles the tools you can access in a run.

Should I play with Shift Lock on?

Many melee and aimed-spell players prefer Shift Lock for consistent facing. Turn it on for combat, and toggle off briefly if you need freer camera scouting.

Are mobile controls the same as desktop?

The actions match—move, jump, attack, two ability buttons, and a set-swap control—but they appear as on-screen UI instead of keyboard keys. Practice the swap until it is reliable.

Why are my Set 2 abilities never available?

You must assign abilities to Set 2 in Inventory and press F (or the mobile swap control) during the run. Without swapping, only the active set’s Q and E will fire.

Can I change keybinds?

Roblox and device settings may allow remaps. If you change them, keep a personal note mapping your keys to Move, Jump, Attack, Ability 1, Ability 2, and Set Swap so wiki advice still applies.
